One of a series of posters promoting a linkline for Royal Mail drivers

A poster which gently informed drivers not to over-inflate their tyres

There is more to emptying a pillar box than just taking the letters out...

Another attempt to stop drivers from over-inflating their tyres.

A poster to help promote best practice when driving

Another driver information poster- don't tailgate!

Emphasising that care and attention should be taken when dropping a tail-lift. The boys in the yards loved this one!

Another poster promoting the linkline.

And another. This won the advertising cartoonist of the year award. Nice one.

Promoting the idea that most best practice ideas come from the shop floor, not something arbitrarily ordained by a distant management.

The blocks represent departments within the company- loose, not working together.

The departments have now melded into a firm wall

caricatures of the three directors used during the introduction

This illustrate's the client's only funny story - he had to take over a brothel that had gone into receivership!

A perennial favourite- bullshit!

And this client's answer- a 'shite converter'. of course, it all depends on the company...

The factors holding back success

This was to demonstrate a 'beauty parade'- i.e. the quotation cycle when looking for new business.

Another favourite- the Time Bomb. There are some other examples elsewhere in this site.

The Royal Mail wanted to stress the care that should be taken when handling parcels. The tortuous strapline was theirs and it was my task to put it into a poster...

Our client- a firm of lawyers- wanted to point out some of the ludicrous briefs which could never be heard in a British court, sending up the US legal system in the process.

This client used caricatures of his staff as backdrops to their presentations. It had obviously been a good year for the company.

Another for the same client- the sales support manager.

This was for the DTI in Aberdeen, illustrating the difficulties faced at the time.

Also for the DTI- self-protection gone wrong.

Guard your files!

Very simply, helpful staff- no room for 'jobsworths' in this organisation.

Shouts for itself!

Part of a series where the company is being crushed under its own weight.

A diagram of motivational states from the dire to the ideal.

All the staff must play their part.

The Royal Mail ran an internal campaign for their supplies dept. Cilla Black had a popular catch phrase at the time so I used a caricature of her (once it had been agreed by her agent, of course.)

Cartoons are brilliant mnemonics.

When you emphasise your main points with cartoons which encapsulate your message, your time with your audience hasn't been wasted. Usually, the wackier the cartoon, the better it's remembered!

And avoid death by bullet-point!

Here are some cartoons specifically designed for PowerPoint presentations for a variety of clients.

There are three ways of working:

1. The client knows exactly what he wants, and tells me what to draw.

2. The client knows what parts of his script he wants to emphasise (usually the difficult concepts), but doesn't have any real idea what the drawing should look like.

3. The client gives me the script and tells me to produce as many pencil roughs as possible, then decides which he wants.

All drawings can be produced as full PowerPoint slides,  and can be priced to suit most budgets.
